We have started rolling out the canvassing part of the campaign.  So far, I have enjoyed it, and it has been a really good experience. 

You knock on a complete stranger’s door and ask, if she will be supporting the president in the upcoming election.  She says “yes, I will”.  You immediatly know, that you have some of the same political opinions and values.  You know the two of you have a shared vision of the future of this country.  To me, that is a very powerful connection, made in a matter of seconds.  

This does not happen at every door, but when it does, it makes up for all of the doors that spewed out non-supporters.

I wish I could take a picture of every single strange front garden arrangement I come across, but I don’t want to make a creepy impression in the neighbourhood, especially decked out in Obama gear.
